Abstract

   The Russian recommendations "Diagnosis and correction of lipid metabolism disorders for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis" were developed by a large group of experts of the Atherosclerosis section of the All-Russian Scientific Society of Cardiology (VNOK) and approved by the National Congress of Cardiologists (Moscow, 2004). In 2005, a short edition of the same recommendations was prepared. In the abridged version, some additions to the main text of the Russian Recommendations of 2004 have been adapted and made.
   This appendix contains the main provisions of the short version of the Russian Recommendations without any fundamental deviations, allowing only stylistic edits and small editorial comments in the footnotes.
