<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>   A connection of the level of Lp(a) with the presence and extent of atherosclerosis of main arte ries of head was proved. It was demonstrated that this level in the patients who survived stroke is reliably higher than that in the patients from reference groups. A direct connection of low-molecular phe notypes of apo(a) with the presence, extent and development of atherosclerotic affection of carotid arteries was also proved. hypertension is a significant and independent risk factor of coronary heart disease. Other factors of cardiovascular risk including disorders of lipid metabolism, added to arte rial hypertension, increase the probability of the development of coronary heart disease even to the higher extent.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>атеросклероз</kwd><kwd>генетика</kwd><kwd>липидный обмен</kwd><kwd>липопротеид(а)</kwd><kwd>изоформы апо(а)</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>atherosclerosis</kwd><kwd>genetics</kwd><kwd>lipid metabolism</kwd><kwd>lipoprotein(a)</kwd><kwd>apoA isoforms</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Berg K.
